Lexar Media today announced the addition of the 128GB Echo SE backup drive to the popular Echo line of portable backup solutions. Designed to protect valuable data on netbook and notebook computers, the Echo SE drive now offers up to 128GB of storage, allowing users to automatically back up more essential files - anytime, anywhere. Plextor, a leading brand of high-performance digital media solutions, announces the new PX-B120U external BD-ROM. The PX-B120U was first introduced at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan in June and is now available for purchase in the U.S.
The PX-B120U is a USB-powered external Blu-ray Disc playback device that allows users to watch high-definition movies on any Blu-ray capable PC or notebook. Samsung Electronics today announced that it has started shipping its new Spinpoint MT2 1 terabyte (TB) 2.5” internal mobile hard disk drive. It is ideally suited for use in portable storage solutions, such as the newly released Samsung S2 Portable 1TB USB Drives. Other applications include digital TVs, home media systems and set-top boxes, where quiet and cool operations are important.
Employing industry-leading 333GB per-platter technology, the new Spinpoint MT2 drive offers up to an enormous 1TB for personal digital collections such as photos, music, video and work files. Running at 5400rpm speed, the MT2 has a 12.5mm form factor and utilizes Samsung’s proprietary SilentSeek™ and NoiseGuard™ technologies to minimize noise levels during drive operation.

Samsung recently launched three new 3D Blu-ray players: the BD-C5900, BD-C6800 and BD-C7900. According to Trusted Deals, the BD-C5900 is an update to the popular BD-C5500. While lacking internal storage, this new player is WiFi-ready and supports DTS/DTS HD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD audio codecs as well as Samsung's Internet@TV and AllShare technologies.
The BD-C6800 builds upon the BD-C5900 by including 1GB of storage as well as an internal wireless connection. The top of the line BD-C7900 ups the ante even further by including two HDMI outputs for those with an older receivers that aren't HDMI 1.4 compatible.

Sharp Corporation will introduce the VR-100BR1 triple-layer Blu-ray Disc media (write-once) that conforms to the BDXL™ format specification, the new multi-layer recordable Blu-ray Disc format, a world first. These new Blu-ray Discs will be available in Japan beginning July 30, 2010.
This disc media product conforms to the new BDXL™ format specification that extends the storage capacity of Blu-ray Discs to 100GB, twice the 50GB storage capacity of existing dual-layer discs. This new format enables recording approximately 12 hours of terrestrial digital TV broadcasts or approximately 8.6 hours of BS digital TV broadcasts. It expands the range of applications for Blu-ray Discs to include recording and saving long-duration HDTV programs or multiple episodes of serial dramas onto a single disc with the same high-definition image quality as the original.
