Aleratec raises the standard for portable HDD duplication with today’s introduction of the 1:1 HDD Copy Cruiser Mini USB 3.0, an essential tool for building and upgrading computer systems.
The 1:1 HDD Copy Cruiser Mini USB 3.0 gives users the power to make hard drive copies and access hard drives quickly and easily with one lightweight, portable device. Though it weighs in at less than a pound, it is both a powerful standalone hard disk duplicator and a versatile HDD docking station.
Since it is standalone, there is no need to tie up any computer running complicated duplication software. A simple one-button operation creates perfect clones and backup drives, and the fast sector-by-sector copy process includes partition and boot sector information. Users can connect and remove drives in seconds with the quick-connect hard disk drive bays, allowing users to quickly and easily mount or dismount either drive.

Marvell’s newest advanced SATA controller lays the groundwork for the next-generation of high-end consumer applications, doubling in capacity with four ports for SSD or HDD connectivity, while two PCIe 2.0 lanes are now equipped to deliver double the PCIe bus bandwidth to accommodate multiple SATA SSDs. The 88SE9230 SATA controller uses intelligent algorithms to automatically pin hot data files and directories to up to three SATA SSDs while enabling all data to be safely stored on larger capacity SATA HDDs. The 88SE9230 is also designed to provide unparalleled security, including 128/256 bit on-the-fly AES encryption to ensure maximum data security.
Other World Computing announced today its OWC Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G SSD is now available in a 480GB model size for the latest Apple MacBook Air 11.1″ and 13.3″ models which incorporate 6G (6Gb/s) data rate capabilities. The new Mercury Aura Pro Express 480GB model combines award-winning SandForce technologies and Tier 1/Grade A Toggle Synchronous NAND to deliver data rates up to 3x faster than factory 3G (3Gb/s) options and up to 8x the storage capacity of the factory’s base 64GB SSD model. The new, built-in-the-USA Mercury Aura Pro Express SSD and other OWC Mercury SSDs will be shown in Other World Computing’s booth #5231, LVCC North Hall, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Joining two previously released Mercury Aura Pro Express 6G capacity models—120GB and 240GB—the new 6Gb/s SATA Revision 3.0 480GB model continues OWC’s position as the only alternative to factory SSD options for the MacBook Air models. 3G speed Mercury SSDs from OWC are also available in capacities up to 480GB. OWC offers an easy online guide to assist consumers in selecting the correct Mercury Aura Pro Express SSD for any of Apple’s MacBook Air models from 2008 to current.
Memoright, a leading provider of integrated SSD products, will showcase its ruggedized, extended temperature SSD solutions as well as a wide range of SDDs for embedded systems, servers and storage systems at the Storage Visions 2012 to be held in Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas from January 8-9 at Booth 20.
Memoright's 7mm ultrathin SATA III SSD solution, FTM Plus Slim, is the best choice for an upgrade in SSD performance of ultrathin notebooks that can fit directly on HDD slots of the next-generation Ultrabook models to optimize the performance of SATA III 6Gb/s interface that breaks through the performance bottleneck of PC systems.
For users of enthusiast notebook models such as ThinkPad X220/T420s/E420s, an upgrade in SSD will not only improve substantially boot speed and read/write performance, but also increase battery life and shock-resistant capability. Many next-generation sleek notebooks are built to fit with 7mm HHDs or SSDs, but most of SSDs currently available in the market have a standard thickness of 9.5mm, making a number of Ultrabooks unable to access high-speed storage performance through a direct upgrade to SSD.
The roll-out of 7mm FTM Plus Slim SATA III SSDs from Memoright enable direct performance upgrading for next-generation notebooks, delivering a read/write speed of up to 550/500 MB/s.
Other World Computing announced today the Mercury Aura Envoy, the industry’s first bus-powered enclosure for utilizing the factory Flash SSD from any 2010 or 2011 Apple MacBook Air model as an external drive when upgrading to the higher-capacity and higher-performance of an OWC Mercury Aura Pro Express SSD. Complementing a MacBook Air both visually and digitally, the new Mercury Aura Envoy will be shown in Other World Computing’s booth #5231, LVCC North Hall, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Mercury Aura Envoy’s sleek size (5.9in L x 1.79in W x tapered .279in to .466in H) makes it an ideal portable storage and/or backup solution that slips easily into a laptop bag or coat pocket. Made from brushed aluminum and offering bus-powered (no AC adapter needed) convenience, its 1.5-ounce (no drive installed) housing is nearly light as air. The Mercury Aura Envoy isn’t a lightweight in the performance department however; its USB 3.0 interface offers up to 500MB/s data rates for high performance, on-the-go backup and file storage as well as grab-and-go enjoyment of music, movies or videos.
