Today Seagate is thrilled to announce Seagate Duet, a one-to-one cloud-syncing portable external hard drive for Amazon Drive. With this product, Seagate teamed up with Amazon to bring together the best of local and cloud storage in one extremely user-friendly device. The drive delivers 1TB of storage, quick local transfer speeds and offline access in a slim, lightweight design. In addition, new Amazon Drive customers will receive one free year of Amazon Drive Unlimited Storage, providing them unlimited storage for photos, videos, files, documents, movies, and music. The Seagate Duet easily syncs all data on the drive to the cloud, giving customers dual backup along with access almost anywhere using Amazon Drive.
True Local and Cloud Backup
Because the Seagate Duet syncs files, photos and videos with Amazon Drive, customer’s data is in two places and available from almost anywhere. Initial setup is easy with a simple tutorial and login utilizing a customer’s Amazon account. They then easily drag and drop files from a Mac® or PC to the Seagate Duet. Those files will sync with a customer’s Amazon Drive account, providing the peace of mind of backup both locally and in the cloud.
Easy Mobile Backup
Photos and videos on a mobile device constitute some of the most precious moments a person may have. With the Amazon Drive mobile app, people can easily back up files from their smartphone or tablet to the cloud. With the Seagate Duet drive, they can view and back up their favorite memories and files stored on their computer as well as on their smartphone or tablet using the Amazon Drive mobile app. So whether the user is plugged in at home or out hiking the Redwoods, Seagate Duet and Amazon Drive work in harmony to ensure dual backup of the memories they capture along the way.

ASUSTOR Inc., a leading innovator and provider of network storage solutions, has announced the addition of the new ElephantDrive cloud backup App for all ASUSTOR NAS devices. ASUSTOR NAS users will be able to download and install this new App via App Central. ElephantDrive provides an online cloud backup service that allows data from ASUSTOR NAS devices to be backed up in real time or via scheduling to ElephantDrive’s encrypted cloud storage space. Data can also be conveniently restored in the event of an accident, significantly enhancing data availability.

WDLabs, a business growth incubator and accelerator of storage solutions leader Western Digital Corporation, today announced availability of the WD PiDrive Foundation Edition products, which combine microSD™ card and USB drive functionality with operating system installation software to provide the Raspberry Pi® community an integrated and highly affordable storage system solution for fast project creation.
“It is similar to about 30 years ago when hard disk drives went mainstream in PCs - no more swapping floppy disks in and out to load the OS, applications and data,” said Dave Chew, chief engineer, WDLabs. “This third generation WD PiDrive solution uses a USB HDD or USB Flash drive to run the OS and host multiple Raspberry Pi projects instead of having to do this on a collection of microSD cards. We have combined our technologies to work as a team.”
Custom software, based on the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s Raspbian OS and NOOBS OS installer, is included with the new system and provides very easy installation of OSes on the USB drive. The large capacity of the drive enables an exclusive ‘Project Spaces’ feature, which allows installation of multiple instances of the core OS, creating independent spaces for project creation or support for multiple users with isolated work spaces.
