The Ultrastar DC HC620 delivers an unprecedented capacity point with a time-to-market advantage for customers who have invested in, and continue to take advantage of the benefits of SMR.

Setting a new bar for TCO, the Ultrastar 15TB host-managed SMR HDD is well positioned for hyperscale cloud and traditional data center workloads, including large video surveillance “smart city” initiatives, storage for regulatory compliance and Big Data storage. Enabling the world’s densest server and storage systems, incorporating 15TB HDDs allows a fully populated 4U60 HDD enclosure to reach a raw storage capacity of 900TB, which is an additional 60TB per 4U rack in the same footprint compared to those utilizing 14TB HDDs. In an at-scale environment where floor space, $/TB, TB per square foot, or watts per terabyte are critical, this TCO savings can be significant.

Western Digital Corp. today expanded its portfolio of data storage devices purpose-built for the modern surveillance market, introducing three new offerings: the industry’s first industrial-grade 3D NAND UFS embedded flash drive (EFD) for surveillance; an expanded WD Purple microSD card series to support up to 256GB capacity; and Western Digital Device Analytics, the new device analytics technology enabling OEMs and system integrators to proactively manage their storage subsystems and maintain optimal operation.
The new devices and tools address the complex and dynamic data demands of a surveillance market in transformation, supporting the high performance, capacity and endurance required by networked and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled camera systems, as well as other smart video devices operating at the edge.

ASUSTOR Inc. has launched the AS-T10G 10G Base-T network card to provide customers with the ability to upgrade their devices to the fastest speeds available for consumers.

Synology Inc. today launched its first mesh router, MR2200ac, supporting Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA3). Being a high-performance wireless router with a modular design, its coverage can be easily expanded with additional units to create a mesh network for connected homes of all sizes.
The number of connected devices worldwide will increase by 12% on average annually, from 27 billion in 2017 to 125 billion in 2030, according to IHS Markit. "When we looked at this, we realized that it wasn't just a matter of keeping devices connected," said Kuei-Huan Chen, Senior Manager, Synology. "It's also a matter of understanding what's happening in our network in order to protect our devices – and family – from external exploits. That's what we built the MR2200ac to do.
