What's up with InCD v3.37 ?!!?

Postby Sgt.Torg on Tue Nov 05, 2002 2:03 pm

Has anyone determined what exactly went wrong with InCD v3.37? This version caused huge problems with my WinXP Home system (bluescreens at startup, etc.) and just plain didn't work. Took me forever to figure out what was causing my system to go nuts

Went back to v3.31 and all is well again. It seems others have the same issues as me. Surely, Ahead must realize there is a big problem here?!!? But there has been no (official) update for ages now.

Frankly, I expect more from Ahead. Nero has always been rock-solid, so why can't InCD be more stable?

Not exactly, I've had trouble with InCD 3.37 under Windows XP, but try to visit this thread to get to InCD 3.40 from an internal server.

InCD 3.40 is not an official Nero release at this point.

So what? v3.37 was "official" and it caused major havok with my WinXP system.

My point is: Ahead should seriously consider a change log for InCD, like they do with Nero. If they make a mistake, they should admit to it, fix it in the next release (promptly) and document what has been fixed. This would be a giant step forward and give InCD the credibility that Nero already has.

Just my 2 cents...

"So what?" Just a simple statement of fact, that's all.

Note that I didn't say that v3.37 should be used because it is "official". If you have (had) read the threads on this subject regarding problems with v3.37 on this forum, you would have seen that I have been pointing out the same problems with v3.37 that you are complaining about.

My recommendation has been to use v3.31, which works fine with WinXP. If someone wants to use v3.40, that's up to them, but they should know that until Nero officially releases a product update it should be considered a beta version. Since beta versions haven't finished the debugging process, unless you want to be an unacknowledged beta tester this may not be the best solution if a stable bug-free prior release is available.

mrweed,

Glad you got it working.:) CD-MRW stands for "CD Mount Rainier ReWrite".
