Optorite may add the DL support in their next firmware upgrade.Or they might release a 16X DL drive in near future.

Hello!

Nice looking drive, totally different to other Optorite-products.

I think HD-Burn is only 8x

Anyone got a media compatibility list on what media 8x media will burn at 12x speed and any 4x media that will burn at 8x speed on this burner?

Hi vsekh,

Check out the media compatibility list based on the media code at our website at http://www.optorite.com/_english/web/1_ ... php?hID=16.

Scroll down and you will see a link of recommended media. The file is in PDF format. This list will tell you which media code will burn 8x media will burn at 12x.

If you can't get to the list, do the following:
a. Go to http://www.optorite.com/
b. Select the U.S. and the Product Info or New Product.
c. Select the DD1203 drive, and select the Specifications link.
d. Scroll down the list and you will find the link.

Thank you,
OptoRite Support

Almost tempted to buy this drive, simply because the supported media list actually has Optodisc on there... I'd love to see how compatible OFFICIAL support is, compared to some of the more unofficial supports I've seen...

If it's Optodisc samples you need, feel free to contact me if the direct root isn't working

I may not always have the answers you want, but you WILL get answers :)

Yes, but they only seem to post about once a month. Maybe they'll start a trend. It would be nice to have the industry players come by once in a while and see what the users are talking about. Cheapest research they ever did.

Among MAXELL 002, YUDEN000T02, RICOHJPNR02, and TDK 002, I guess only T02 and R02 are easy to get at reasonable prices under certain circumstances.

Hello!

Ian, do you plan to review this OptoRite-drive?

I hope the 1203 is better than the older DVD-drives from OptoRite, because these drives have many problems with writing media at good quality

I have a MSI CR52-A2 (OptoRite CW5205). This drive has some problems with few media, but the speed and quality with other disks are very good. I burned many CD-R´s with it and it runs real great.

Yeah, I've been trying to get one.

OptoRite's older drives weren't bad for the price. The later firmwares improved the writing quality.

I saw the reviews when the drives are new on the market (in Germany you can get only OptoRite from MSI), and these writers was so bad like the LiteOn 8x-drives, nobody test this writeragain when the new FW´s arrived.

Nice to hear that OptoRite improved the quality. But do MSI the same support or must I flash from MSI to OptoRite? A friend do it with his CD-RW MSI CR52-A2, because that time the OptoRite-FW was Version 210 and the MSI was 190

MSI is Accesstek is Optorite though the relationship is more like Mitsubishi to Mitsubishi Chemical to Verbatim.

Hm, but some drives from MSI seem to be not manufactured by OptoRite: CR 52M, X48.

I thought OptoRite have a relationship with Sanyo?

MSI didn´t released the 1203, will it come?

Is this drive also an OptoRite?
