Verbatim DataLife (Not Plus)

Postby aviationwiz on Sun Aug 31, 2003 7:30 pm

Just picked up some Verbatim DataLife (Not Plus) from Office Depot. They gave them to me at 30 disks for $30. Good deal, right? Possibly wrong. They are 1x according to dvdrhelp, but one guy said his burner recognized them as 4x, and that some people got them to work at 2x.

I wonder what speed these will be on the PX-708A, anyone know?

I'll return them if they don't work at 4x. The price was right, so I'll wait it out, and see if they are 4x.

I picked up a 15 disc pack of the Verbatim DataLife (non-plus) DVD+Rs for $30 about 2 weeks ago.

Both my TDK 440n and Sony DRX-510UL recognize and burn them at 4x.

I've had no problems with them in the Sony drive, but 2 out of 4 failed to verify correctly on the TDK. Of course, the TDK won't burn any other discs with any greater reliability either, so I suspect it's the TDK drive and not the media.

On the 440n, TDK 4x +R discs also fail to verify 50% of the time, and it'll barely work at all with any of the DVD+RW (2.4x) media I have on hand (HP, TDK, Maxell). With the +RW discs it fails to complete the BURN most of the time, let alone the verify.

Interesting.

Do you happen to know what the 'Media ID' of your Office Depot Verbatim discs is?

Thanks!
