Updates/installation questions

My Sony burner came with Nero Full 6.6.0.1 and the last time when I did the updates to 6.6.0.3 (by DL the 6 pakages form Nero web), I saw Nero would first uninstalled the 6.6.0.1 before installing 6.6.0.3.

I am about to reformat my HD and I would like to know do I need to install the 6.6.0.1 first before doing the updates or can I simply just install the 6 pakages (6.6.0.3), I know the "KEY" form Nero Smart Start!

I format my HD once every 6 months and I notice that Nero releases updates quite frequently and I would like to know is there any way for me just to install the latest version (given I have the "KEY" ) without having to install the original 6.6.0.1 everytime I reformat my HD?

yes, you don't need to install your 'original' version.
just install the newest update from Nero's website, and when you first run it you'll get a dialog box asking for your serial key.

Interestingly I just got a larger hard drive and am reinstalled OS and applications as well.

I downloaded 6.6.0.8 and installed without using my original Ultra 6 disc and it never asked me for the serial number. I had to go back and enter the number after it was installed.

Is there any way to know if the product is actually activated?

When you install Nero 6 from a download off the website, it will not request a seraial key during installation. But the firs time you launch any program such as Nero Express, Nero Burning Rom, etc (Not Nero StartSmart) it will ask you to enter a serial key.

If you entered the serial key from the StartSmart, then that will enter it for all programs.
