Amazon currently has the Toshiba HD-A2 for $239 with free shipping. While this isn't the lowest price I've seen, Amazon has sweetened the deal by offering 3 free HD DVD movies on top of the 5 Toshiba is giving a way.

I'm not sure if it will be offered in the USA (it's a Canadian brand/manufacturer after all), and I'm pretty sure it won't have the service or support that even Toshiba has on products (which is relatively crappy, but at least SOMEWHAT existant in terms of sales support). Furthermore, there is no reason to believe that it will work with the 5 free HD DVD movies deal, and it certainly won't be applicable to the current 8 movie deal.

Honestly, if you want to buy into HD DVD, the current Amazon deal is likely to be your best bet for a while.
