TMPG Introduces MPEG Editor 2.0 Software

Versatile New Addition to the TMPGEnc Brand Offers a Faster, Easier Way to Edit DVD, DVD-Video Recordings, and High-Definition Video.

Gardena, CA -- May 2, 2006 -- TMPG, Inc. (www.tmpg-inc.com), the company that makes digital video easy, is about to make it even easier. The newest addition to its TMPGEnc product line, MPEG Editor 2.0, is a video editing software package that offers a variety of advanced features, along with a wizard-like interface, which combine to make digital editing faster and easier than ever before. The product will be available for download on the company's website beginning May 10, 2006, with an MSRP of $59.95.

"Digital and high-definition recording is quickly becoming more and more prevalent in American households," commented TMPG CEO Kimi Matsuki, in announcing the new product's availability. "Our TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2 software provides users with an array of easy-to-use features that make editing any MPEG-2 or MPEG-1 file unbelievably fast, abundantly easy, and incredibly precise. It is the next logical step in the evolution of our MPEG editing software."

The software allows anyone with a DVD recorder to import footage directly from their DVD recorder into TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2.0, where annoying commercials and unwanted scenes can be edited out and the file played back on a DVD Recorder, since MPEG Editor 2.0 processes the video with practically no re-encoding. Likewise, the software can edit high-definition content, giving users a product that helps maintain HD's razor-sharp picture from start to finish with no compromise in quality.

Smooth-cut editing is assured with MPEG Editor 2.0's advanced Smart Rendering technology, which only re-encodes the edited frames instead of the entire movie. This makes the editing process much faster, as it is no longer necessary to re-encode an entire movie for every cut, regardless of the cut's size TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2.0 also solves the frustrating problem of "too much video content, not enough disc media space", as MPEG Editor 2.0 makes it possible to specify a file's desired final output size while maintaining the video's original quality, whether high-definition or standard.

Special keyboard shortcuts help users scroll through their footage as fast or as slow as they like while locating desired scenes. TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2.0 also adds a touch of cinematic realism as it fully supports Dolby® Digital two-channel audio, as well as importing and exporting unprocessed 5.1 source files. It can display video in 2.21:1, 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 standard aspect ratio formats.

Other features include support for Microsoft's Media Center Edition files (DVR-MS); high-speed thumbnail viewing and scrolling; a new split-clip function that allows a user to take one clip, select a location, and split the clip into two files; VRCopy (powered by Panasonic; Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.) read and write tool for reading and writing to DVD-RAM discs, and both regular and advanced MPEG tools for multiplexing and demultiplexing. Audio features include filters to clean up, refine, and enhance audio quality; volume level change; audio fade-in and fade-out; and bilingual track selection with the capability to output it solely in either the main or secondary channel.

The new TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2.0 software is PC compatible with Windows 2000 and XP (Home, Pro, or Media Center editions) operating systems. The product will be available by download at www.tmpg-inc.com
