Sony PS2 and DVD+R movie playback

Postby Robotnik on Mon Apr 14, 2003 3:25 am

I have a Ricoh MP5125A DVD+RW writer and I would like to send a recorded DVD movie to someone who will be using a Sony PS2 for DVD playback. Does the PS2 have any difficulty reading or playing discs recorded to DVD+R media, anyone know? Their PS2 was purchased this Xmas and is a US NTSC model - don't know exactly what ROM version or whatever it is.

I can only guess it won't work since the new PS2 hardware now supports it.
Most notable perhaps because of its increased DVD capability, the new model will allow gamers to play DVD-R, DVD-RW, R+, and RW+ on their systems for the very first time.

Works fine with my V5 PS2. Tried it on a V4 as well. I don't use Nero though because it is still hit an miss with DVD+Rs.
