SONY DVD IDE DRIVES

ACER T120 Desktop. XP SP3 2Gb (max)

Hi all,
Am searching for a SONY drive and come across your site. Some great info on here, and am looking forward to reading thorough the posts.

I'm currently after a SONY DL drive for my machine, which is all IDE.

I'd really like the AD 7241S,,,, but as far as I can see, it only comes with SATA interface.

a) does anyone know if it also comes with IDE ?
b) if not, anyone know of a very similar model, but with IDE (& poss lightscribe) ?

many thanks for reading.

all the best

Hi TOG. Welcome to CDRLabs.

I haven't heard anything official from Sony Optiarc, but it looks like they've given up on IDE. If you want a good IDE drive with LightScribe, you may want to look for a Sony Optiarc AD-7201A. If you can do without LightScribe, the Pioneer DVR-116 and DVR-117 are excellent choices as well.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm actually changing from LG to SONY having read some great reviews about them.
I s'pose I could live without L.Scribe, but I would like the speeds etc of the 7240/7241 etc

In the mean time, I'll look at the models in your reply.

Thanks again
