Scratch-Proof DVD Test at dvd-r.jpn.org

Postby MediumRare on Wed May 16, 2007 1:54 pm

The Japanese site dvd-r.jpn.org has added a test of various "scratch-proof" DVD's to it's ongoing sunlight test.

They pulled each disc over sandpaper with increasing weights added and rescanned each time with PxScan on a Plextor PX-755A or 760A. Results are up for about 1/2 of the planned 13 media types.

They use a neat display style that lets you click through the results like a flip chart.

Very interesting tests! And the webpage is in English. :)
Looks like the Mitsubishi Gold performed the best so far?

I don't agree. The 250 setting results for the mitsubishi gold are bad while TDK's TTH01 might proof less spectaculair in the begining doesn't go as bad.
So I think TDK's durabis 1 coating might be better as verbatims/mitsubishi prodisc made harcoat disc's but it looks like Prodisc made a slightly better disc from the start.
Trying to make something "foolproof" only forces nature to make a better fool.
