Really Good News!

Postby CowboySlim on Tue Nov 25, 2003 4:47 am

To all my dear CDRLABS friends,

My daughter had brain surgery today (Monday). Three tumors were removed successfully and we expect a full recovery. I saw her briefly after the surgery and she looked as well as could be expected. A day of terror in the hospital lobby followed by a night of relief and happiness.
:D :D :D

I love you all,

Slim

And Spazmogen: We got another one saved!

A success! That's great to hear! Science and medicine are great. To paraphrase Chumbawamba, we get knocked down, but we get up again. :) Glad that everything is well with your daughter...and the rest of your family, for that matter...Slim!

CowboySlim, that's great news! As a Father who’s recently had a child in the hospital, I know what a helpless, terrifying feeling it can be. I'm very glad that a full recovery is expected!

It looks like it will be a very thankful Thanksgiving this week!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

Slim,

it is a comfort to hear such good news toghether with the bad news.
the bad news being your daughter needing the surgery, the good news is that it's OK! :D :P :D

my mother had to undergo some neurosurgery a few years ago, also to have some tumor removed (not from the brain though - from the spine). so i can feel your concern and worry, it's a terrible thing, and now your joy and relief that things have gone well. i'm really glad she's OK.

i wish her a full and painless recovery. a speedy one too, but that is not so important. as long as she gets well that's all that matters.

my thoughts are with you and your family. be well all of you.

Slim,

That's really great news. Hope you and your missus are holding up fine.

Well, my daughter had to go through heart surgery about 9 months ago. I still remember leaving her terrified in the operations theatre. We saw her after about five hours being taken with loads of wires attached and after an hour more doctors let us see her in the emergency ward. It was really heartbraking to see her in such a difficult condition. However, the good news is she made it without any complications. Thanks to God, she's a healthy, active kid now.

Looking back, I think as parents we suffered/worried more than our daughter. Don't worry, children are survivors. They conquer more everyday than all humanities conquests put together. As it's obvious in the thread, your daughter has the hopes and blessings of many good people...

Take care and God bless us all indeed.
Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty. - Richard Lovelace
