Question Regarding Data DVD+R

Postby earcandy on Sun Mar 23, 2003 11:09 am

I just put a bunch of my mp3's on a DVD+R disc to archive, and I was wondering if my sony dru500ax dvd burner is the only drive that should read the data. I can access the data fine from the burner, but not from the other dvd drive on my computer. I'm recording these as data only dvd's. I'm also using Nero, just in case a matters. Anybody have experience with this, as to whether this is normal.

Thanks,

I can read DVD+R and DVD+RW with my Samsung SM-348B. I use the Sony DRU-500A to backup my HDD...but if I need to restore...I let the Samsung do the work. This way, I can save a little wear and tear on the DRU.

Is there anything special I need to do when burning for my dvd drive to see the disks.

To be safe just burn it as a straight ISO with all the normal DOS restrictions and it should work in anything that knows how to read that kind of disk.
If you want to read them on a normal DVD player most of those can't deal with MP3's on any dvd media, they assume it's a movie and when it's not they get a error, plus some can't deal with + media anyways.
My Liteon 166s has no problems with any media so far, it's fully multi read.
2 of my regular DVD players can read MP3 on DVD, one can't.
I have modded one player with firmware to do it, the other just was a lucky buy.
