Problems with BENQ 1650 / Vista / DMA

Postby sargey on Mon Sep 03, 2007 9:31 am

Hi guys.

I'm having some problems with my dvd burner and vista.

Everything has been working fine until last week. I went to burn a dvd and it was taking ages. I checked Imgburn and it was burning at 1.4x, instead of 8x. I restarted and still had the same problem.

I remembered having a similar problem with my dvd burner on my old xp partition and having to reset the dma via a script that I found on the 'net.

I have tried resetting the dma on vista by uninstalling it from device manager, but I still get the same issue. Although my old TEAC 4 speed burner works fine.

Anyone had similar problems or know of a solution? [-o<

It's really annoying and I don't want to have to buy a new burner.

Cheers.

You're using the MS IDE drivers, right? Try uninstalling the IDE controllers through Device Manager. Then reboot. When the computer comes back up, it should reinstall them and hopefully fix the problem.

Have you tried a new 80-conductor IDE cable?

Maybe someone wants the BenQ 1650, then they can send you a burner of your choice.;)

Have you tried upgrading the firmware?

Yup tried updating the firmware, but it was at the latest version.

The thing is that its been working fine for months and only just started to burn at low speeds.

Its a really strange problem.................... and bloody annoying as well!

How about trying the 1650 in someone else's machine and see what happens?
