Hi guys,
I too faced the same problem a few months before.The drive was just out of warranty.I spoiled about 4 CD-R's and then tried to use CD-RW.But the burn used to fail as mentioned in the post below,

The drive performed well,and is still alive without any problems,in my brothers computer.
I agree though,get that drive replaced.
