Can you go back to your previous firmware version?(Plextor)

Postby NoSmartz on Fri Jan 02, 2004 11:06 pm

I just installed the new firmware update for my Plextor 708a(ver. 1.04).
When I installed the new firmware I restarted then used Nero to rip a movie and it got all the way through the writing then a burn error appeared. This was my first coaster with this Plextor.I've done quite a few cd's and movie back-ups and this was my first coaster.I don't believe it was just a coincidence. Is there a way to go back to ver. 1.03?I uninstalled from Device Manager and restarted and no luck.

Just grab the 1.03 firmware from Plextor's site, and run the program. It should go back to 1.03.

http://www.plextor.be/English/technical ... _708A.html

If that fails, you could get the firmware binary and the flasher tool and run that in DOS.

Yup, 6302 and 1.04 seem to be getting along well. Thankfully.

I will install Nero 6.3.0.2(I had 6.3.0.0)today and just re-install the 1.04 firmware.I reverted back to 1.03 but I thought maybe it was the media I used,Maybe not.I rip't 1 more back-up before I went back to 1.03 with a DVD+RW and it came out fine.So I'll just go ahead and go to 1.04.Might as well.

so far i like DVDFab and Recode 2

recode 2 burns on the fly, compresses on the fly

and still looks untouched as far as movie quality

Screenshots look a lot like CloneDVD.
I'll give it a whirl.

Man there's a lot of software to choose from to this back-up'in.Good software is always available but now I have to get some blank + media.Best Buy never has sales and all I have is a $50.00 gift card.I might have gotten some cheap at First Saturday(big dallas computer swap meet earlier today)but it rained.I didn't want to melt.
