Acer media technologies

Any1 heard of them???? I just bought Sony 48x (Supremas) and they are from Acer. Are they any good, any problems?

The Acer's I have are very good although I bought them primarily for the packaging (see http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=53255#53255). Don't be surprised if you see these identified as Daxon by some programs: Daxon is the new name for Acer Media.

Since you already have them, the best thing is to try them out and share your results.

Sorry to say but Benq/Daxon/Acer (however we should call them )makes media with a great variance in quality.
Most times it's quite good. But sometimes the quality is really low !!
Also on quite some writers I had problems with burning there older media up to 80 minutes. Burning up to 74 minutes goes fine. But with 80 minutes audio there is a good change that you here some pops and clicks.
Now the latest batch of 48x media. The ones I got were branded as HEMA. I got didn't had his problem however the quality showed great differences. Some disc's were very good and some won't even burn right ! It was a 20 pack (15 disc's burned fine with very low error rates (C1: less then 1) 2 disc's had much C2 errors one of them showed a production error (damaged upper layer). The last 2 disc's just failed to record right and 1 is still unburned.

This HEMA media is way overpriced since if you look arround you can get
Ritek, FUJI,TY manufactured media from which 20 of the 20 will burn fine with very low error rates(Average C1=0.5 on my recorders )

I found a dusty pack of these in a shop today and bought them, seeing from other posts that these are made by Hitachi-Maxwell. They have exactly the same packaging, and are rated at 12x:

My only expirience with Acer media was back in my HP CD-Writer-Plus 9300i. It was the very first media I used. Rated at 10x, 10x writer, burned them at 10x, boom, buffer under-run errors left and right. It was branded as Acer and got them at I think Best Buy. I don't know if it was the media or what, but I don't recall getting buffer under-run errors any other time. Of course, you don't have to worry about buffer under-run errors now-a-days.

I have had excellent service from Acer media (Acer Gold) the past 3 years, but I have to add, all on LG drives.
Have used Acer 12, 24, 32, 40 & 48x hundreds of burns @ max speed and never 1 problem. Disc's burned with my LG 8160 in 2001 are all still 100% readable.
LG's used: 8160, 8240, 8400, 8481, 8520, 8523, & 8525

I'm down to my last 50 pack of Sony cd-r's and they are listed as Acer 79.54.74.They have worked great for me.Sony still owes me $11.00 though for the rebate but other than that they work fine.No coasters.

No worries with Benq (Acer) Gold 48X media here. Used them on my 52327S and 48125W.
