TEAC DV-W50D overburn

Postby valcar on Wed Dec 17, 2003 10:57 am

Hi all,

When I read the review TEAC DV-W50D 4x DVD±RW, I was really impressed by all of its features and I was specially interested in overburn so I bought the drive. I used Nero 6.0.0 software to burn CDs, but although Nero said that overburn was supported it allways failed. I supposed I was doing something wrong, and I forgot about this stuff.

But yesterday I saw a fix to Nero 6.3.0.0. I downloaded and installed it and I realised that now the overburn was NOT supported for my drive.
Anybody know if overburn could be done with TEAC DV-W50D and any software?

Thanks in advance.

Wasn't this drive based on Pioneer 106D. If yes then it should be able to overburn or at least burn 90 minutes with the special TDK media which is identified by some programs as 90 minutes /800 mb disc.

Correction

One minor correction. The nero version I was using prior to the update was 6.0.0.19 (the one with the overburn patch).

I've found two interesting things in other post:
*A review indicating that t is able to perform CD overburning of up to 99 minutes

* A message send from the german teac support that answers a request about the problem:
"der DV-W 50 D unterstützt leider nicht das Beschreiben von überlangen Medien.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen

in english: "the teac dv-w50d is NOT capable to burn overlong discs."

I don´t know what to think.
