LiteOn 411S for $79.95 after rebate at Best Buy

Postby cbburk on Sun Dec 14, 2003 1:51 pm

Went in to Best Buy this morning and was surprised to see the LiteOn 411S(retail) for $129.95 - $50 mail in rebate. This is a steal for this drive bringing the actual price down to $79.95. Grab them while they are still are in stock.

They also have a good deal on Memorex DVD+ or - 4x, 50 packs for $49.95. That's less than $1 a disc.

How is the drive? My local walmart has them for 99 without any rebate hassle.

I like mine so far! No coasters and seems to work as advertised. I have only tried burning +R and +RW, though. I don't know if I ever will try a -R or -RW as I have no reason to.

It's a good drive for DVD+Rs, not very good at DVD-Rs though.

dolphinius, I only use Taiyo Yuden -Rs and so far I have never had any problems with this drive.

Also the CD-R/RW performance is exceptional. A good value for money for someone looking for a balanced drive.

Cheers.

It's just fine with DVD-R, as long as you use decent media. It's better on Ritek G04 than my Pioneer 106D, TY and Hitachi-Maxell are also very good.

Even TY DVD-R's aren't burned as good as most other recorders can do them.(Plextor/ Pioneer) Still they burn better a lot better as most other good -r media on this drive.

The drive is okay for that price. Still it has it's issues but so do other drives. No drive is perfect

The only real problem with Lite On is there support if it actually breakes down. But then again for a price that low you can buy a new one much easier as for any other brand (except BTC maybe)

This is pretty inaccurate. The fact is that the 411S produced lower error rates on some DVD-R, equal rates on some, and higher rates on others. This is true of all drives, including the Plex and Pioneer. Here, the 411S produces lower error rates on TY and Hitachi-Maxell than the Pioneer.
