Postby TCAS on Mon Dec 01, 2003 8:57 pm

I like to know your experience and difficulties or satisfaction with having and using new "Lite-On Dual Format DVD Writer Model 411S". How is the quality of drive , its writing and media compatability?. How you compare this drive with other comparators drive?.

Thanks;

Ian;

I hope you know what you doing with this type attitude, no wonder why everyone has left and don't bother to visit this site any more. If you lose your visitor then I guess you won't have any justification keeping the lights on any more.
Just look in to the traffice of this site and compare it with last year traffic then you might see the reality.

There's no reason for that attitude TCAS. I simply moved your post to a section of the forum where you'd get the answer you are looking for.

Yeah Ian, quit being such a jerk! :roll:

The drive works great with good quality media, but still needs some firmware work on the lesser type duscs. CDR/RW quality is astonishingly good, never seen anything quite like it here.

I agree with rdgrimes.... ian is being a jerk :P

But seriously, the LiteON 411s is pretty good, especially at burning DVD+R media, it still needs a little work on the DVD-R burning though (in *MY* opinion). The CD burning quality is amongst the best I have ever seen! :D

It's even twice as good as P-P-P-P-Plextor.
(trolling for a Plex fan-boy, think it'll work?)

From my personal experience, 411 is a good drive. Liteon had some issues with different media, DVD Player and XBox compatibility. But they seem to have sorted most of it with the latest firmware update.

You can get the latest firmware from here:

Why don't skip this drive and move directly to 811? It'll cut the burn time of 411 in half.

Jerk stop being Ian. :)

Liteon advertises 811 can write + media at 8x. Of course the media is not available yet but It shouldn't be long. Theoretically 4x to 8x is half the time isn't it?

No, the 8x does not write at 8x for the entire disc.

8x Z-CLV is not twice as fast as 4x CLV
8x CLV is twice as fast as 4x CLV (theoretically, in actual fact a little slower) but no drive (as yet) is 8x CLV.

Yeah, you guys got me there. So instead of theoretically; Generally, normally or casually, 4x is half slower than 8x right? :)

(No need to answer, just joking. I ignored about ZCLV and CLV and was trying to suggest 811 instead of 411 because of writing time.
I hate leaving the PC alone until my 411 finishes the burn.)

It's just about twice as fast. 8x I can do in 8 min. 30 sec. 4x I can do in 16 min.

I am getting low 14' also for burning DVD-R with 4.4GB of data from my LWD-411S Lite-on. So far I have burnt 7 disk with no trouble at all.

The usual time with my 411 is also around 14~15 mins. But I run the verification so it takes double the time.

I'll confirm the timing as soon as I burn the next one.
