What is Plextor working on ??

Postby BMR on Tue Dec 02, 2003 2:37 pm

I was just wondering ...

Plextor came out with the 8X +R what seems like ages ago compared to the other manufacturers who are now just getting them out. Has anyone heard of what they have comming out next? There has been a long gap in any anouncments made by them and I am curious if they will again take the lead in this market ....

Their product is still competitive based on featureset and has been doing quite well. We've hit a point where we're starting to see partity among featuresets. I'm sure they're working on something new but I haven't heard anything. The Memorex drive doesn't offer paradigm shifting performance anyway... who knows if 8X -R will work well anyway. Not to mention, media lags behind hardware by several months... look @ 23X CDRW and 4X+RW as examples. Need a whole new set of standards to move things along.

What about the talk of the new Plextor Premium courier service. I think they offer the new giga-ship service which allows the shipping of twice as much stuff as their normal service, for the same price. However it only works with some pickup/dropoff points, and they don't officially support the service if something goes wrong or missing. They also have the habit of taking up to twice as long to deliver packages )if they believe the product to be fragile) without telling you.

I think it's going to be BIG!

Rename that service to Fed Ex Ground. There you go, now you got it right. Everything you said matches Fed Ex Ground, LOL.

OK, but I just recently saw on PlextorBlender.com that there is a firmware update for your Osterizer. It'll blend at 8x in the + and - directions without any problems. FYI :P
