Who makes the Digital Research Technologies DDVDRW4D?

I just got this from Best Buy at something like $90 after rebate and wanted to know who the manufacturer is in case there are any firmware updates for it. Thanks in advance.

The drive's entry in Device Manager will probably state the actual manufacturer.

Not unless there is a manufacturer called "Generic" cause device manager sees it as "Generic DVD+RW 4XMax".

This is an OEM model of the OptoRite's DD0203, the Digital Research/I/O Magic/Hi Val brands have been using the same model for a while, and the 2.15 version of FW is specifically designed for the I/O Magic model:

You should have no problem updating to other versions of FW, although even the latest 2.30 is still buggy and using the DOS version is much safer than the Windows version.

Since it's a rebadged OptoRite DD0203 does that mean I can use the firmware from the OptoRite site or do I have to use the one from http://forum.firmware-flash.com/dl_firm ... ad_id=1605 ? Thanks again for all your replies.
