Value 4 mony???

Postby silencer on Mon Dec 01, 2003 10:45 am

I intend to add a dvd writer as a secondary master drive to an existing TDK CDRW48/24/48B. Wonder which dvd writer is considered most value 4 money at this time ... should I go for the 4X NEC or 4X TDK ( a bit expensive ) ... or maybe the new 8X Benq??? Please do not recommend plextor as it is not available in my country...

As a newbie in this forum, mind advise me is it advisable to chain the dvd writer together with existing cdrw drive as a slave drive?

Your advise is really apprecited ... THANK YOU

Pioneer 106D.
(So far tests indicate that it's the best 4x drive when it comes to writing quality)

Now I got mine including a year subscriptionon a quite bad Dutch computer magazine for 99 euro's. ( The drive alone is mostly sold over here for arround 130. (OEM) or 150 (Retail))at the moment.

Knowing prices in the countries arround me I think
NEC-N1300 or Lite ON 411S are most times the cheapest DVD dual drives out there. (The TDK 4x model is based on the NEC N1300. So just buy the cheapest if you want a NEC that is.)
They work fine with most decent media. At least with the newest firmware s that is !
LG might be nice if you need DVD-RAM in the other cases it most times a bit to expensive. (Lite On is cheaper and the Pioneer is just a little bit more expensive)

In my computer, my Lite-On LDW-411S (DVD+/-RW) is "slaved" to one of my Lite-On LTR-52327S (CD-RW) drives, and both the 411S and the 52327S work fine that way.
