How do you burn DVD's???

I'm sorry for this very noobish question , but I got very confused lately. When burning a DVD, do you have to have a dvd rom drive so that it can read the dvd while the blank disk is in the burner drive? Or can you read the dvd disk, save it to your desktop or something, and THEN just burn it onto a blank disk?

umm, it depnds. If you are talking about DVD movies on DVD-9 I have to rip those to my Hard Dirve and then put them on DVD-5

if you are talking copying DVD-5 to DVD-5 I would just use Nero do a copy disc, cause i have the space

I always drag the contents of my non-CSS encrypted DVD(data,mp3,etc) to my desktop or use "save to HDD before copying" when using DVD-R,DVD+R has better defect management.

I have a DVD-ROM and a DVD writer but I only use the DVD-ROM to watch and rip DVD's,DVD-ROM's rip faster and are alot cheaper to replace. I don't have a PS2(or any game consoles) so I can't help you there.
