Question about HP dvd100i

I just found out that I have at work a dvd writer, the HP dvd100i, so I thought I'll put it to work . But after reading a little bit about it, it seems that it can write only +rw media . This is a bitch, because the +rw media is not cheap at all and it's very hard to find (at least where I live).

According to the HP website, it does not recognize +r media.

My question is:

Can I find anywhere a firmware (official or not) that can enable support for +r media? It's even possible for it to write +r disks?

Originally it was believed that a firmware update would allow the DVD100i to write to DVD+R media. This was according to HP. Then later on, they found out that a firmware update would not allow it to write to DVD+R, so no, it will only write to DVD+RW, even with a firmware update.

yeah, you're stuck with +RW only.

The deadline for trading-in a DVD100i for a DVD200i was May 30,2003.Get the boss to buy you a new writer,tell him/her it is for productivity.

I wasn't aware of that. Anyways, I've only been working there for a mounth, so, it was to late.
