Not sure what days those were. CMC has been making DLP CDR's for a long time, using MCC ATIP.

Yes and Verbatim DL+ CD-R made in India is made by Moser Baer....just with MCC dye and ATIP.

The only real MCC discs is those made in Singapore or in Mexico (CD-R discs) (but I think that maybe CMC now controls the Mexico factory, not sure though).

MCC has 3 options for production.

1 Own factory - Singapore
2 Combined Factory with CMC - Ireland & Mexico
3 Factory of another manufacturer - Taiwan(CMC) , India (MBIL)

All disc's that carry the MCC atipcode are made under MCC technology and quality controle policy.
This means MCC delivers chemicals, dye composition and determins when disc's and stampers are good.

To give some more examples of who's doing it whom.

Sony (TECHNOLOGY/STAMPERS) - LEAD DATA(Production)
Ricoh (TECHNOLOGY/STAMPERS) - Ritek (Production)

Ther are also joint ventures.
Mitsui chemicals + CSI = MAM-E/A
Philips + Ritek = Primedisc

About media from one production place being less good as another.
Allmost all verbatim 4x DVD+RW media carries the ID of CMC
So far the tests I seen indicate that it's quite decent.

Verbatim dvd disc's are made these days by:

DVD+RW: MCC,CMC
DVD-RW: MCC
DVD+R: Ricoh,TY,MCC,CMC
DVD-R: CMC,MCC
