FUJI DVD-R made in Taiwan

Postby LordTrace on Tue Nov 11, 2003 5:48 am

I have been buying nothing but fuji (made in JAP) CD-R for a while now and i love them .. I Just got a dvd burner and im lookin at the fuji 4x dvd-r and the ones at the store in town say Taiwan :( I heard that these are ritek (witch is good) and the Jap ones are TY (also good .. i think) but im not sure. Did a few searches here and didnt see anything concrete so i was wondering if anyone could shed some light before i buy the tai ones ? :)

Thanks guys

Here, only the jewel-case packages of 5 and 10 are TY, all the spindles are made in Taiwan. don't know for sure who makes the Taiwan discs, but they could be Ricoh/Ritek.

:D Since when is Ricoh makeing DVD-R
Since it's 4x DVD-R media and it's taiwan manufactured the bigest change is that it is Ritek G04.

Sorry for the confusion. Best information is that Ritek and Ricoh are coming from the same producion line in Taiwan, so I kind of interchange them somtimes.

I believe that is only for DVD+Rs

Ricoh is only DVD+R. Ritek DVD+R's are labeled as Ricoh.

Ritek DVD-R is plain Ritek. There is no such thing as Ricoh or Ricoh labeled DVD-R.

Ricoh and Ritek work together very often. Ritek makes a lot of Ricoh's CD-Rs using their technology and quality standards (oddly enough, they are often much worse quality then Ritek standard stuff, so why not just use Ritek's quality control??). As for DVD+Rs, I believe Ritek is making them for Ricoh as well, although RJW knows MUCH better then I on this one. For some reason my contact at Ritek always doges these sort of questions....
