You might want to try slowing down your memory timings in the bios and even slow down the chip a step or two if you know your PS and other components are up to par. I had a Asus A7V133 that would not run reliable after adding a ti 4200 video card, BSOD all the time, overheat etc.
I finally set the chip to run like 132 MHZ or slower and it was way more stable after that. Some of the older Asus boards had crappy power regulaters and had laeky cap problems. I finally replaced it with a MSI with everything else exactly the same except new 333 memory for the new board and its like a rock now, almost never BSOD or freezes even in the hottest days after running for a week.
Try slowing it down and see if it helps. You might also want to see if any of the caps are bulged or have white gunk coming from underneath them as that's a sign of the cap problem and your sytstem sounds like a older board to me.
