Verbatim to ship 8x DVD+R media this month

Personally, I've very skeptical. Their 4x DVD+RW and 32x CD-RW discs are still MIA and they were announced months ago. I have a hard time believing that they can all of a sudden hurry up and get their 8x DVD+R discs to market.

I'll believe it when I see it, according to them, we should also have 32x CD-RW media by now, well, I don't see that anywhere. LOL.

Yeah, I had a chat (via email) with Verbatim's PR guy today. I asked him if we're REALLY going to see these discs this month or not. I used the 32x CD-RW and 4x DVD+RW media as an example. According to him, Verbatim has been shipping their new CD-RW and DVD+RW media for months. To whom exactly? Good question. If you're like me, you can't find these discs in stock anywhere in the US.

btw.. Verbatim got in a bunch of 8x DVD+R media supposedly. Did they send us any.. hell no...

I can't find any 8x DVD+R or 32x CD-RW either, except the few bundled with the drives.

Why should i pay 4$ for a DVD+R 8X while my Plextor works at 8X with DVD+R 4X that cost around 1.5 $ ?

Nobody told you you have to buy 8x DVD+R for $4. That's just press release price for the public's eyes. The initial press releases from Verbatim also listed prices for 4x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 2.4x DVD+RW, and 2.4x DVD+R. They were all higher.

When they get into mass production, 8x will becom cheaper than current 4x media on the market because there will be more media demand and more competing suppliers.
