Actually I think if you use the most curent firmware its now a 8x and Newegg has on their description of the 061 as +R at 8x. Maybe this also means its the same drive physical drive as the 081.

Nu-tech DDW-061 for 13,900 Yen @ LAOX. Though it's only 6x speed and can write to DVD+R/DVD+RW only and not to DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM, it is still cheaper than many 4x writers. In fact, it's cheaper than NEC ND-1100A and Lite-On LDW-401S in South Korea.
