4x DVD-RAM on the way

Postby dolphinius_rex on Tue Nov 04, 2003 8:42 pm

I have *NO* idea what drives will support it, but Maxell has just confirmed that they are just finishing 4x DVD-RAM, and it should be available sometimes in May 2004.... of course they told me 3x DVD-RAM would be available in October 2003, and now they are telling me January 2004... so the release date could easily be pushed back a few months, but the info is solid. 4x DVD-RAM is a reality. We may yet still see 16x DVD-RAM in the future!

Gosh, I hope Maxell doesn't get mad at me for spilling the beans too early!

By the way, LG made it public recently that they are developing DVD-RAM 5x to 16x. Maxell develops DVD-RAM media with LG. Well, 23GB Blu-ray media are already available for 25 USD.
