Nero and Lite-On Smartburn

How does Smartburn function with Nero? The reason I ask is that Nero allows you to pick the burn speed when you setup the project. Does this just set the maximum speed and Smartburn will slow it down as necessary?

The confusing part is that when using Easy Cd Creator 6, you get to choose Smartburn as a burn speed, or a concrete speed, from the drop down menu. In Nero it is only a checkbox in the recorder's properties suggesting that you can choose a concrete maximum speed and Smartburn at the same time.

If you have a blank disc in the drive, Nero will only show the speeds allowed by Smart-Burn for your disc. If you select a speed higher than the Smart-Burn limit for a disc while the Smart-Burn checkbox is checked, the burner will slow down to the Smart-Burn limit before it starts burning.
