Ritek 8x DVD-R Media

The text in the following URL is Korean (Hangul.)

The poster whom I think is somehow related to Ritek does not want anyone to link the image file directly so I can just say where it is. DON'T post the file anywhere.

Ritek 8x DVD-R media were displayed at the Oct 2003 Computex in Taiwan held just a few weeks ago.

The media look like some of the first sample so I guess it's ready for LG GSA-4080B release. I'm going to ask LG about GSA-4080B firmware.

dual layered discs should be VERY nice! But so far only MCC is making them right? that seems to suggest to me VERY high prices and LOW availability! :(

Cool. Wonder if its possible for the px-708a could support 8x -R burning via firmware update.

Wishful thinking probably! :-?

Rex aren't you forgetting Pioneer for -R.
Pioneer is very silent compared to Philips when it comes to dual layer tech however it might be a calm befor the storm.

plextor have said they will look at it for the px-708
However don't forget 8x DVD-R is a lot harder to implement as 8x DVD+R. That's why Plextor won't promise everything and that's why most companny's stay away from it.

Pioneer however has to prove that it is possible since they claimed it and after all there still one of the most important -r supporters on the market. Since pioneer knows that 8x might be the last speed for them I think they might pull off something extra with the launch of the A07 it might be dual layer or it might be something else after all they will have to give people a reason to stay on -r if the format cannot go faster at least that is if they really want to compete.
