Memorex Dual-X1 into Pioneer DVR-106D

Is it possible to change my memorex Dual X-1 dvd burner into an actual pioneer, to where its recognized as a true pioneer?

The universal flasher from Agent Smith should do the trick, but remember that there is no way going back to the original Memorex firmware once the drive is flashed to the Pioneer firmware. The reason is explained as follows:

Why would you want to? There is 1.07 firmware available for the Memorex.

The Memorex firmware hasn't (and wont be) patched. That's a reason for some.

what does the patching do?
improve read speeds only or something more too?

I think he means the RPC-1 patch.. make it region free.

no i really did mean patch to officially named and recognized pioneer oem

but thats cool, as a bonus i get the speed hack
