My DVD-Recordable FAQ.. critique please?

Postby Bhairav on Wed Oct 29, 2003 12:12 pm

Hey guys! You might remember my CD-R/RW FAQ from a couple of months back. Well, I've written a new one, on DVD-R/RW. I'd like your thoughts on it.

Might want to add under #10 that the AOpen DRW4410 is also an OEM of the MP5240A.

Firmware-updated Lite-On LDW-411S writes and reads Princo DVD-R and DVD-RW better as well as several other DVD media. In late 2001, Lite-On helped drive CD writer price drop by increasing production from about 200K monthly to about 1000K monthly. In late 2003, Lite-On increased DVD writer production from 50K to 200K.

Why not be more specific instead of just using words like good, well, nice?

Was Alexnoe's name Alex Noe? (If so, I didn't know.) His FAQ was first posted in Doom9.org forum but I asked him to post it also @ CDFreaks forum.

Reads and writes princo better. Still it doesn't matter in the end since UV and ageing tests by humidty show a very bad behaviour

Hey Kennyshin. Thanks for looking over the guide. I've tried to be short and to the point, because the forum mods wanted 2 posts max. in the guide. That's why I've pointed out the review sites and the CD discussion forums, so they can find out for themselves .
Alexander Noe, yeah, that's his first name.

Some of my friends in South Korea use them by the hundreds. :D

The initial firmware in LDW-411S could not write Princo's latest DVD-RW 2x media at 2x proper speed but now the updated firmware can, and 4x at 4x.

Maybe you didn't have as much luck.

Kennyshin: Do you mean FS07 or the leaked FS0B?

FS0B. I helped the user to buy 600 Princo DVD-R 4x in August. He first tested with FS02 and then FS0B.
