hmm...correct me if i'm wrong:
Plextor PX-708A, Lite-On LDW-401S, Lite-On LDW-411S can do this too, no? (other drives too, i'm sure, these are the first that came to mind).

OK they probably mean only among the drives in that review.
still a very blatant error IMO. they should know better than that.

IMO, they left way too many questions unanswered. In particular, they don't mention anything about the drive's writing performance. All they do is test how fast these drives can rip some DVD movies.

Bah! Don't read Uncle Tom's web-shite. Sucks, to put it mildly. He got bought out by Intel. Basically:

1)For motherboards and CPUs, read:
www.anandtech.com
www.hardocp.com
www.lostcircuits.com
www.aceshardware.com

2)Recordable CD and DVD:
www.cdrlabs.com of course :D
www.cdfreaks.com

3)Vid cards: Anandtech and Hardocp.

Hello!

Do someone know more about this drive? Is it an OEM-drive?

It's manufactured by QSI and uses Philips' Nexperia chipset. More info here:

Wow! Yes, that is a notable error.
The 708A (and others) burn 4X DVD+RW media at 4X.
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

LiteOn 52246S 52X CD-RW
LiteOn 52246S (another)
LiteOn 52327S 52X CD-RW
TDK 40X USB 2.0 CD-RW
TEAC CD-W540E 40X CD-RW

yeah, quite ironic, considering they're reviewing DVD burners!!!
they did say they used the drives to burn DVDs. but when reporting the performance of each drive, there's very little on writing performance if at all.

pitiful.
