Compusa dvd+r

Are these made by princo too?

I have been using the dvd-r from them for a month or so and have not had any problems with my nec 1300a or the home recorder I use. If they work ok, the 14.99 a 10 pack isn't so bad considering they come with jewel cases.

Although I don't know the manufacturer of CompUSA discs I know that pronco only makes DVD-R discs. No DVD+R discs.......

My DVD+R's from CompUsa were made by Optodisc and the DVD-R's were made by both Optodisc and Princo. All have worked fine and the DVD-R 1X have all burned at 2X. Just went to CompUsa today and bought some TDK DVD+R 4X for $20.99 for a 15 Pack spindle. I hope they work better then the 4X Memorex I brought back yesterday to Best Buy and CompUsa. Nothing but problems and no 8X burns.

Well aviationwiz I'm a little disappointed. The media code is the same as the Memorex 4X DVD's that I brought back to CompUsa yesterday that I had so much trouble with. I didn't open those as I used a 25 Pack that I had purchased at Best Buy. I had 10 successful burns if you count the ones that I closed with BatchDisc and 7 coasters, I had 8 left and brought those back to Best Buy along with the 7 coasters and got a partial refund. So these probably won't be any better then the Memorex. I am almost afraid to do a burn and be disappointed again. Here is the code. What the hell, does everybody use the same damn disks.

What speed are you burning them at? They're really not intended for 8x, 4x is pushing it.

What do you mean 4x is pushing it? They are intended for 4x. 8x can also be done, even well, but doesn't work all the time

They might just work better, as according to people here, Memorex media tends to be "flakey" for optical media, including CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-R/RW. I have never had a problem with Memorex DVD+RW before, though other people have. Wish you the best of luck with your latest optical media investment. Hopefully it will work better than the Memorex.

They are intended for 4x

And this means what? If you expect media to always perform up to it's "rated" speed, you will have a lot of disappointments.

I learned my lesson about rated speeds long ago when I bought a 50 pack of Princo 48x CD-R, only did 40x on my LTR-48125W, sold em' to a friend shortly after.

The Media Code "RICOHJPNR01" is a 4x code. I have had good luck with these disks at 4x on my PX-708A, and bad to average luck at 8x.

EDIT: You have tried the disks, saw over at cdfreaks, the results look average. As stated before, it's a little "flakey" some of your burns look a ton better than some of the others.

Well guess what aviationwiz, it appears that not all Ricoh JPNR01 are the same. I finally did my first 8X burn on my 708a with TDK 4X. It burned the full DVD movie in 8:13. The disc even closed correctly. I used Nero 5.5.10.54 and Firmware 1.03. It's only 1 disc but I never got an 8X burn with Memorex 4X in 17 tries, I did get 7 coasters though.

I picked up the TDK 15 pack of 4x DVD+R. Identified as RICOHJPNR01. Have yet to do a burn yet, but I will eventually.
