Lite-On LDW440d

Postby tabb on Wed Oct 22, 2003 9:38 pm

Anyone have or used one of these? Other than it may be a rebadged Sony 510A, I can't find any info on this drive. I'm thinking of buying either this one or the LG4040b. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't buy it if you're expecting firmware updates for the drive.

No, Lite-ON doesn't even mention the older LDW-400D on their site though that have sent a firmware update to users through email and that has been posted on the Firmware Page.

And lets hope Lite On did actually did some work on this firmware themselves since Sony's firmware seems to have flaws in the write strategy.(Based on Ct' 22(2003- German version ))

Hmmm...I guess its true...if it sounds too good to be true...The Lite-On is on sale for $169.00cnd. Maybe I'll wait 'till the new 8x drives are out before I make a decision. Thanks
