What is the EXACT Difference between +/-

I got my first DVD+RW today a slightly old RICOH RW5120 and it dont record on ANYTHING OTHER THAN DVD+RW, witch I realized after spending $40 on a 20pack DVD+R's i cant return. I found a flash to the Firmware for 1.92 but that just made it region free. I have 2 Questions:

1. What is the Difference in +/- besideds price of media
2. Where can I order bulk +RW's at?
