ok, did some testing today...
my ricoh still burn fine @8x without slowdowns, also tried fuji4x, i was hoping that those are taiyo yuden like the dvd-r4x sold here, but they still are "just" ricohjpnr01... anyway fuji worked fine @8x, also no slowdowns, full disc burned in 7:41 :)
gonna try tdk and sony tomorrow, but so far this firmware looks pretty good

Just watched the actual burn speed of a Memorex 4X (using firmware 1.02)till the end of the 8X burn.
No slowdown in Stomp RecordNow Max 4.5
I'll check whether Nero 6.0.0.11 also doesn't experience the slowdown anymore.
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

LiteOn 52246S 52X CD-RW
LiteOn 52246S (another)
LiteOn 52327S 52X CD-RW
TDK 40X USB 2.0 CD-RW

i tried some tdks(ricohjpnr01) and sony(mcc002) today, both burned fine @8x without any slowdowns :) i had huge probs with those discs and 8x burning with the previous firmwares, but those issues seem to be gone now...

One other bi-product of thie firmware upgrade....

In the past, Nero Info Tool never had a check box in the Mount Ranier box for me...now it does...
