Packard Bell have been boxing up DVD media recently in packs of 10 with a BUY 5 - GET 5 FREE sales pitch. These can usually be found in branches of DIXONS, PC WORLD & COMPUTER WORLD.
I live in Ireland and purchased several boxes of the DVD-R media at €24.95 a box. According to DVDINFO the manufacturer of these discs was RITEK and burned quite happily at 2x on my Sony DRU510A using Nero 6.0.0.19.
Visiting the UK, last weekend, I saw the same boxed brand DVD-R media on sale and purchased 3 boxes at £24.95 a pop.
Upon return to Ireland and use of said UK purchased discs I find that the manufacturer, on these UK sourced discs, has changed to OKI and the media WILL ONLY BURN at 1x on my SONY. (After losing 4 discs trying to burn at 2x with Nero)
Please be aware of the limitations on these discs as burning a disc that takes 40 mins to complete is no fun at all.
