Optodisc DVD-R's in NEC1300??

Postby BurninMan921 on Mon Oct 06, 2003 11:44 pm

Newegg has 50 packs of Optodisc discs (DVD-R, 1x/2x) for $50. Anyone know how good these are? They'll just be used for movies, not critical data (for that: TDK Armor Plated DVD-R). I've never used ANY '-' type discs, so I really don't know if the NEC can burn them well.

Now, if only I could find Armor Plated +R discs, then I'd really be happy :)

EDITED: Changed "Optorite" to "Optodisc". He he, opps. Don't type when tried...

Edited again: Meritline has discs by "HQ" (umm, sure), but judging from what they say about them they sound like Riteks. Would these be better? Or can someone recommend some good, cheap media (- or +, but - seems cheaper)?

Sorry for the long, rambling post....

Optodisc are fine, I've used around 100-150 of them and the burns appear to be pretty good but I haven't checked in any detail. The Ritek discs are without doubt one of the best of the budget brands.

Sounds good, thanks for the info! Now I have a cheap brand of DVDs!
Hopefully those "HQ" discs at Meritline are Riteks; guess I'll order a sample pack and see :)
