DVD Media in Canada

Postby Luvien on Sat Sep 27, 2003 4:03 pm

Hi!

I'm planning in buy the new Plextor this week, but I cant find any good media where I live. I'm from Quebec, Canada. Is there any online shop where I can buy some -R 4x or good +R 4x to use with the plextor?

Thanks!

I'm from Valleyfield, about 60km south of montreal, but I live in quebec city since 5 years :)

thanks for the link. They sell RITEKG03. I read that these media have some problems with the plextor... any idea where I can get other type of media?

Thanks!

I've been using Memorex 4x DVD+R (Ricoh) in my Pioneer DVR-106D. Works great and even plays in my PS2. I've been getting it from Future Shop and Best Buy here in Toronto. They sell Memorex 4x DVD-R too. I think it's CDN$9.99 for a 5-pack, or CDN$19.99 for a 10-pack of each format. Both packs come with jewel cases. At those prices it's worth trying out.

USPS

It's kinda hard to find Verbatim at a resonable price in Canada from what I see. I'm reading that with USPS i won't pay import fees/taxes?

Is there any good seller in US where I can buy good media and ship them with USPS?

Thanks a lot!

as cfitz already stated www.blankmedia.ca is a great place to go....

let me put it this way. I work for the official distributor of Maxell Canada for the province of BC, and www.blankmedia.ca is selling 2x Maxell DVD-Rs for below what *OUR* cost is from Maxell themselves! ...which leads me to believe they may in fact be counterfeit.... but still, that wouldn' mean they are bad neccessarily.

I'll probably be placing an order with them soonish :D

Try www.tigerdirect.ca

They're based in Markham, Ont. But ship from the main warehouse in the USA. (Tiger is a US company, with a Canadian webstore).

There are no duties or customs fees at all.
