If you haven't updated to firmware 1.01 for the 708A

Can you extract the .bin and email it to me?

Plex doesn't have it available.

Thanks

I take it that 1.01 sucks then? I haven't tried it yet.

Got this email from Plex America:

What you have heard is likely incorrect. There is no bin file for the .0 firmware. We only have updates to the original firmware as shipped with the drive.

It's important to properly update your registry after any firmware update. To do that, you MUST delete ALL CDROM entries from Device Manager and reboot to let Windows properly redetect your drive.

Horse puckey. They might not have it available, but if you haven't updated, you can extract it.

Email is brettenlow@yahoo.com

I'm running into more buffer fluctuation issues, since the update. A Intel .INF update solved the first batch. Also, seems like burn time has slowed by a minute for a full disc with TDK 4X +R.

taz,

Are you saying we can e-mail you to get instructions on how to
extract our old firmware?

I didn't get around to updating last night and also had to take care of a few things tonight, so I haven't gotten around to updating to 1.01 yet.

Thanks!

I updated to 1.01 so I'm screwed. I need someone to email the 1.00 bin to me so I can revert back to the original firmware.

If you haven't Veff, you can back it up using Mktwinflash or one of the other flash utilities and email it.

Plex is saying that they don't have access to the original firmware that shipped with the drive... meaning 1.00. I find that difficult to believe which is why I said horse puckey.

MTK WinFlash cannot make backups, and *has* anyone actually tried this drive with mtkflash?

OK there's a couple other firmware extraction utilities out there.

Thanks NL. I'd do some searching and give you a link. Or if someone has an idea what could be used, please add a comment.

I plan on updating mine tonight, unless someone finds a utility to backup the old one, so I can give it to taz first.
