Postby aviationwiz on Sun Sep 14, 2003 12:06 pm

Here are the Q-Check results from 5 disks burned in the PX-708A.

As you can see, the results are great.

All media is Fuji TY 48x, burned at 40x on the PX-708A with 1.0 firmware. All disks are read in the Premium with 1.03 firmware, scanned at 24x.

Hi aviationwiz the results are "all Greek to me" as they say. For me that is, that know very little about testing methods.
The results as you said are "great". What is the reference? I mean compared to what? For example how do the results of the Sony DRU510A compare?
What is the result that is most important for a writer?
I have just bought the Plextor PX708A and burned about 7 different DVDs so far and I am absolutley thrilled with this machine.

We really don't know of how it compares to vs the Sony DRU-510A, as no one with the Sony has done any testing with it.

The Q-Check Results for CD's C1/C2 are very good, and can be compared to this on various burners:

The DVD Tests in comparison to my old Ricoh MP5125 are great. Compare to this:

Fuji (Ricoh) 2.4x DVD+R burned at 2.4x on Ricoh MP5125.

Memorex (Ricoh) 2.4x DVD+R burned at 2.4x on Ricoh MP5125:

Ritek (Ricoh) 2.4x DVD+R burned at 2.4x on Ricoh MP5125:

TDK (Ricoh) 2.4x DVD+RW burned at 2.4x on Ricoh MP5125:

Verbatim (Mitsubishi Chemicals) 2.4x DVD+RW burned at 2.4x on Ricoh MP5125:

As you can see, the DVD Results for the PX-708A are awesome, and the CD Results are very very good.

That's nice, and the build quality must be good - as of now all retail units are made in Japan 8)

Actually the ones sold at BestBuy are the only ones that I have heard of being from Japan.
I got my retail box online, as did others, and they were made in China...

The quality seems excellent nonetheless.
It has a very quiet tray, and is also very quiet when writing, except when changing zones...
I have burned a bunch of discs with it, and I am very happy so far :)
Even though they were burned at a full 8X on 4X certified media, they play perfectly on my primary home DVD player.
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

LiteOn 52246S (another)
LiteOn 52327S 52X CD-RW
TDK 40X USB 2.0 CD-RW
