What operating system and Nero/InCD versions are you using? You could have the problem that rdgrimes mentioned, that of InCD causing a blue screen when a CD-R was inserted. Before I blamed everything on cable select, I would try uninstalling InCD to see if a CD-R can then be successfully recognized and burned in Nero.

Just in case you don't already know and tried to use a CD-R disc with InCD, it can't use CD-R discs, only CD-RW discs.

I am running win2kpro and the nero cd that came with it is version 5.5.10.13. no i didn't know that In CD can't use cd-r..hmm?? oh gosh... what am I suppose to with the 200 CD-R discs form fuji that i bought from best buy? i gotta check receipt and see if i can still return 'em. and you know for some reason it seems like i can't enable the dma on both the primary and secondary IDE channel. what do guys think i should do first.? should i change Cable sel to master?, or uninstall in cd? or should i just return the darn thing. to tell you the truth it took me days before i discover this jewel site and read all the reviews that Ian posted and seemed like LITE ON was the right choice. i also had samsung on my mind but i think overall LITE ON was a good choice. hopefully you guys can assist me on figuring this thing out. I'm probably gonna burn midnight oil on this one since it's holiday tomorrow. thank god!! thanks again for all the responses!!!

You can still use the CD-Rs with Nero; just not with InCD.

If your problem was just that the CD-Rs wouldn't work with InCD, I wouldn't advise that you change the jumpers. I also wouldn't advise that you return it; Lite-On drives really are very good.

hi cd recorder, somebody suggested to download the new version of nero xpress but it says on the cd that came with the drive that it will only work with the drive it came bundled with. so my question is.. do i need to uninstall the files from the old nero cd.( i have 5.5.10.13) then download the new version? will the new version work? and also... there are 4 different update package, is it ok to download all of them? thanks.

first of all, as for Nero 5.5:
you can download the update file and run it (it's an .exe file, double click on it) and it will update the current Nero you already have. no need to uninstall the current Nero first, or delete anything from your hard-drive.
just download the updater, double-click and you are ready to go!

i think you are talking about Nero 6. that indeed (the whole Nero 6 package) constitutes of 5 downloads.
you need Nero 5.5, that's just one download.

thanks cd and dode. i actually already went to url on how to enable dma for win2k but it still did not change it to dma available. i have an hp 4440 amdk6-2/333mhz. i actually upgraded the mem to 256mb and the hard drive to 80 gig. she's running pretty good. to tell you the truth this is my first time trying to burn a cd. BTW im wondering if adaptec cd creator will work for this drive? im guessing probably not. in the manual on pg.11 it says that i have to download UDF reader from adaptec? doesn't the nero cd provide that? thanks again you guys.

It depends which version of Easy CD Creator you have. If you have version 5.x or 6.x, it will support the LTR-52327S if you download the latest patches (free) from the Roxio web site.

No, you won't have to download the UDF reader. The main reason that you would want a UDF reader would be to read discs written by DriectCD or InCD, but if you already have one of those programs installed, you already have the needed software to read these discs.
