Memorex firmware question

ok, i have a 2.4x memorex burner. i have heard it through the grapevine that you can take the 4x firmware and get it to run at the same speeds as their 4x model. does anyone know where i can get the firmware for the 4x model? does anyone have the 4x model that would be willing to get me the firmware off of it?

i take it you've never heard of this sort of thing happening? there are a lot of models that do this sort of thing... some 48x liteon drives will run @ 52x and such as well. there's a lot of cases of this stuff...

Well that's great, but Ian's not kidding you. Ian has heard of pretty much everything...

Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear. You probably misinterpreted the fact that a firmware upgrade is necessary in order for these 2.4x drives to be able to write at 2.4x to newer 4x medias.
