ok heres the thing.. first of all I am a computer techy so I know alot so don't say something like dma and those basics
here we go
I burn ISO files to dvd-r disk (4.2gig) xxx.iso format. and I load this with my pioneer 16x dvdrom that I tested to garentee mimimum 4x speed reading (i used nero speed test and with all disks it read disks at 4x then went up as oppose to some other dvdrom that read slower then gradually rising)
and burning it with either sony dru500a or pioneer a06 using 3 different well known dvd-r 4x disks.
but for some strange reason recordnow max 4.5 (with 408 engine update) doesn't burn at 4x..
infact most of the time it doesn't even start at 4x.. it reduces the speed to 2x then 1x as time progresses!!!
However using NERO I can do exact same operation without a single buffer underrun problem (burnt proof).
so I been doing some testing and observing and only thing I can come up with is that recordnow streaming capabilty is very limited. Either it thinks it cannot read the disk fast enough thus reducing the speed or my programs stuff...
Again i emphasise on the fact all dma is enabled, every device is using own ide channel. nothing is sharing. tried different ide configuration, tried 6 different kinds of dvdrom reader yet all do the exact same thing..
However when i burn this iso image from harddisk, it works perfectly just when its on dvd-r it stuffs up!
however when i do disk to disk copy it works sometimes but i can still see my burner using burnt proof features (even though my burner reads mimimun 4x plus i use 75MB cache
Is this a known issue? or is there some sort of setting i stuffed up??
please give me something to work with..
PS. reason i wanna use recordnow max is the verify feature which nero cannot verify iso files
PPS. the verify takes heaps long if I do it from dvdrom to DVD writer.. it takes like 50minutes so it basically reduces to 1x
again on harddisk verify takes 13minutes
PPPS> no its not my pc its 3.2gig with 1.5 gig ram... so basically my computing environment shouldn't be the factor. USing winxp
